HISTORY OF SCULPTURE


Sculpture is a form of three-dimension. It can be viewed from various angles. Sculpture is the oldest art. Sculpture began to be known when the discovery of a carved sculpture Cycladic Aegean sea on an island about 4500 years ago.



SCULPTURE IN THE ANCIENT WORLD

Early civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt  Hindus valley and china gradually developed a written form about 3000 BC. civilizations like those of their ancestors also feel the belief in sculpture.

EGYPT
Body was kept carefully Pharaoh  pyramids, great monumental tomb giza, was built for the early kings of the most powerful. Pharaoh and his wife were buried in the deep room to the large stone blocks.
life size and larger statues carved in slate, alabaster and limestone are simple in form as their tomb. Placed in the temples and inside the burial chambers, these statues were images of the rulers, the nobles, and the gods worshipped by the Egyptians.


MESOPOTAMIA
Early examples of sculpture in this region formed from a lightweight material that is baked clay, wood or combinations of wood, shell and gold leaf. stone figures from Tell Asmar depict gods, priests and slaves. cone-shaped figure, a small head, large, beak like nose and large.









SCULPTURE ARTIST

MICHAEL D.BROWN

Born in 1942 in the north of England. Following high school received B.S. Art Education from the State University College in Buffalo NY and teaching art in public schools for four years and then studied for two years at the Rhode Island School of Design where received an MFA in Sculpture. accepted a position at the College in Palatine WRHarper to develop a sculpture, three-dimensional design, and ceramics program. In 1996, he took a break to focus on its stone sculpture. retired from teaching after thirty years at the College WRHarper.








HIS LATEST WORK



WANG ZHAN

Born in China in 1962, Wang entered the Central Academy of Art as the main sculpture in 1983. He is known for being a contemporary Chinese sculptor, however, he is also known in other art forms such as installations, photography and video. Many of his works, including the use of a simple object that serves the purpose of telling a complex idea. Many of the ideas he expressed through his works relating to Chinese culture. He was featured in the first exhibition and since then he has shown in over 125 exhibitions frames, 24 of which were solo exhibition.

ABDUL MUTALIB MUSA
Born in Pulau Pinang,1976. Interested in drawing and won several competitions in Malaysia and overseas. After secondary school, interests broadened to theoretical thinking, science and engineering.  he studied architecture at the University of Adelaide, Australia and obtained a Bachelor Degree in Design Studies in 1996. He later obtained the Bachelor of Architecture with Honours at UiTM. In his work, he attempt to highlight some of the issues related to space and temporality, the integration of technology and inspiration, truth and delusion.
